​​​​​​​​​​​​Observership & Fellowship Programmes

​As part of IMH’s commitment to teaching and training, we offer a range of Observership/Fellowship Programmes. The main objective of this programme is for candidates to gain exposure in the Singapore mental healthcare industry and learn specific clinical skills.

Observership Programmes

Typically, the observership experience ranges in duration from a few days to maximum of a continuous 4-week period (28 days). Within this framework, observers have the opportunity to arrange a programme in most of our psychiatry subspecialty areas.

Eligibility 

  • At least 3 years’ experience as a Medical Officer after Housemanship/Internship.
  • Good academic record a​nd at least 2 referees’ reports.
  • Has a valid pass from the Ministry of Manpo​wer to stay in Singapore, if required.
  • Meet minimum vaccination requirements as stipulated by institution ​​

Fellowship Programmes

The Clinical Fellowship Programmes are accredited by SMC and has a maximum duration of 1 year. Any extensions are conditional and reviewed on a case-by-case basis. IMH currently offers the following programme:

Eligibility ​

  • Qualifications/ Medical Degree from accredited medical university
  • Pass relevant national licensing examination in the country of conferment of basic degree
  • Evidence of at least 12 months housemanship/ internship with a certificate of satisfactory completion of housemanship
  • Been registered as a medical practitioner in the country where he is currently practicing
  • Been certified to be of good standing by the Medical council or the relevant national authority
  • Active clinical practice for minimum 3 years preceding the date of application
  • Have a minimum of 3 years working​ experience as a medical officer
  • Fulfill English language requirements of SMC
  • Be sponsored by the government, regional health authority or an appropriate institution in the home country
  • ​Meet minimum vaccination requirements as stipulated by institution ​

*The application process for fellowship requests may take up to 6 months or more.

Interested applicants are required to complete the attached application form and submit with copies of the following documents (translated into English, if required) to Shuhui_zhang@imh.com.sg .​

  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with full personal particulars, professional qualifications, 2 referees’ reports (your referees must be able to vouch for your work performance and character) and career history with medical testimonials
  • Letters from relevant sponsors (if applicable)
  • Current Medical License/Registration with the Local Medical Council
  • Current Medical Malpractice Insurance (for Fellowship Application, if applicable)
  • Passport-sized photograph

Completion of the observership or fellowship programme does not imply any recognition or acceptance for registration with any local or overseas medical council, examination board or medical association.
