​​​​​​Internship Programmes in Child Mental Health​​

The Department of Developmental Psychiatry (DDP) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is committed to the education and professional development of young clinicians and allied health professionals. The internship programmes in child mental health adopt a clinician-scientist approach with positions offering clinical exposure and training opportunities in a clinical setting, with a strong focus on conducting research in mental health.​

Psycholo
gy Undergraduate Internship

This programme provides hands-on experience in psychology applied in clinical settings for students with an interest in pursuing a career in psychology. Interns gain clinical exposure via training sessions and clinical observation opportunities, and gain research skills by assisting in research-based activities.

Eligibility:

  •  Third year Psychology majors from a recognized university
  •  Above the age of 21 at point of enrolment

Minimum Commitment:

  • Part-time: 2 days per week for 6 months.
  • Full-time: 5 days per week for 3 months.

Resea​rch Attachment

This programme is open to graduate-level applicants who are interested in learning and conducting clinical research. Interns are expected to complete a research project during the internship. Applications are considered year-round. 

Eligibility:

  •  Enrolled in Masters, PhD, or MD programme
  •  Secured a supervisor who is agreeable to undertake supervision
  •   Above the age of 21 at point of enrolment​


G
raduate Clinical Attachment

This attachment provides the candidate hands-on learning in a clinical setting under the supervision of a qualified clinical supervisor of the relevant discipline. Interns are expected to discuss with their supervisor on the learning goals, and area of training before commencing the attachment. Applicants should meet training eligibility criteria as expected of their discipline and should have secured a supervisor prior to application. Applications are considered year-round.
