​​​Continuing Medical Education (CME) events are organised throughout the year to inculcate a culture of continuous learning amongst all medical staff within IMH. CME talks are also sometimes organised for GPs and specialists from other institutions. Visiting and HMDP Experts have also been engaged to give CME talks at IMH on some occasions.

Topics for CME talks are carefully selected to ensure relevance to today’s mental health issues and developments, allowing our staff to keep abreast of recent developments in mental healthcare.

Our VASE (Video Assisted Self learning) approach to mental health crystallises important basic concepts for the busy primary care doctors. A typical doctor-patient consultation in our clinic is portrayed and analysed. ​ADHD is one of the commonest neuro-developmental conditions in children and almost all GPs will encounter children with this condition in their clinic. The diagnosis of ADHD is made through a thorough clinical assessment. It is also important to exclude differential diagnoses and comorbid psychiatric or learning disorders. Evidence-based treatment include behavioural therapy and stimulant medication. In this video, the GP can learn about how to conduct an assessment for ADHD in a child and discuss treatment plans with their parents in their busy clinic.
