Learning disorders is a generic term used to describe a group of disorders. These disorders are neurologically based and can affect the acquisition, retention, understanding, organisation or use of verbal and/or non-verbal information. They can range in severity, from mild to severe, and invariably interfere with the attainment of key academic skills such as in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and math. Children with ADHD may often present with co-morbid learning disorders. Additionally, they may also have difficulties with organisational skills, planning and prioritising, social perception and social interaction. Treatment options for children and adolescents with ADHD and LD may possibly include a combination of medication, remedial teaching, behavioural therapy and social skills intervention.
