Hear From Our People

Nastasia Tang

Joining the psychology department as an associate psychologist has provided me with an exciting career filled with potential for learning and growth. Through conducting evidence-based psychotherapy, psychotherapy triage, and research, I am given opportunities to help patients with a variety of presenting concerns. The supervision and guidance from my senior colleagues also created an encouraging and collaborative environment that fosters development. I would highly recommend this position to budding psychologists who love a challenge and are looking to pursue a career in clinical psychology. It is a great place to learn essential skills and gain invaluable exposure to the field.

Working in the IMH Psychology Department has been such a rewarding experience. Being in Singapore’s only tertiary psychiatric hospital, we handle diverse and complex cases that demand resilience and adaptability. Despite the challenges, the unwavering support from the department has made all the difference in providing me with the opportunities to build my competencies and foster my growth as a clinician. It’s truly a privilege to be part of a team that truly cares about mental health and making a difference in people’s lives. The supportive vibe here, along with the diverse perspectives we bring to the table, make every day meaningful.

Michelle Tan

I’ve been at IMH for several years, and what has sustained me in the job is being part of strong clinical teams. This includes being surrounded by a community of therapists in the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team within our Psychology Department, and a supportive multidisciplinary team in the Stepping Stones inpatient service. I value working alongside colleagues who share a mutual understanding about the work that we do, since so much of our day-to-day involves navigating deep human connections and a high emotional load that comes with providing psychotherapy. I’m thankful to be in an environment that allows me to engage in my most meaningful work.

My stint with the psychology department at IMH has been an inspiring and transformative journey. As a Clinical psychologist, I have had the privilege of contributing to the Anxiety Service, where we offer cutting edge, evidence-based treatments such as the Internet-based CBT, the Bergen 4-day treatment and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for OCD. This ensures those affected by this disorder receive the highest standard of care. The department’s culture of continuous learning , mentorship, and collaboration has greatly expanded my clinical expertise and confidence. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on clients’ lives while growing both professionally and personally in such a supportive and empowering environment.
