Patients who have difficulty paying for medical expenses and require financial assistance may approach our Medical Social Workers for assessment and support. 

Financial assistance services are administered by our Medical Social Workers, and applications are assessed based on individual financial circumstances. ​

Step 1 — Speak with a Medical Social Worker

If you or your family member are facing financial difficulties with treatment fees, approach your attending doctor to be referred to our Medical Social Work department.

Alternatively, make an appointment directly with a medical social worker at 6389 2059 or email us at [email protected]. You may also approach the MSW counter at our outpatient clinics to arrange an appointment.

Step 2 — Prepare Supporting Documents​

To support your application, you may be asked to provide essential documents such as:​

  1. Identification of applicant and immediate family members
    ☑ NRIC
    ☑ Birth certificates (for children)
    ☑ Long-Term Visit Pass or Work Permit (for family members who are non-Singaporean)
  1. Income details of applicant and immediate family members
    ☑ Latest payslip
    ☑ CPF statement
    ☑ Employment letter
    ☑ Any documents verifying your income​
  1. Assets information of applicant and spouse (if married)
    ☑ Savings
    ☑ Ownership of other assets
  1. Monthly Expenses
    ☑ Monthly household bills
    ☑ Insurance bills
    ☑ Handphone bills
    ☑ Any other documents that support your financial situation

 Please note that additional documents may be required for your Medifund application and/or appeals.

Step 3 — Attend Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment with the Medical Social Worker and bring along the required supporting documents. Alternatively, you may check with the Medical Social Worker on the option for online submission of documents when arranging your appointment.


In addition to assistance for medical needs, there are financial assistance schemes administered by the Agency for Integrated Care & Ministry of Social & Family Development to assist with the cost of daily expenses. To find out more about these schemes, please do so at the following links:


Q: Who are considered immediate family members?
Immediate family members can be biological or related by marriage or law:

  • Spouse
  • Parents and step-parents
  • Children and step-children (both married and living apart)
  • Parents-in-law and children-in-law living with applicant
Q: Do I need to exhaust other payment options first?
We will guide you to explore all possible means of payment (e.g., MediSave, MediShield Life, insurance) before applying for assistance schemes.
 
Q: Can non-Singapore Citizens receive assistance?
Eligibility for government-run schemes like Medifund is generally limited to Singapore Citizens, but you may still be assessed for other support based on circumstances.
