​​​​Internship Programmes in Child Mental Health​​

​​The Department of Developmental Psychiatry (DDP) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is committed to the education and professional development of young clinicians and allied health professionals. The internship programmes in child mental health adopt a clinician-scientist approach with positions offering clinical exposure and training opportunities in a clinical setting, with a strong focus on conducting research in mental health.

Clinical Research Internship

This programme is open to candidates who are interested to do their research with the department. Interns are required to complete a research project independently upon completion of the internship. Candidates with a research proposal submitted at the time of application will be considered favourably if the proposal topic aligns with the interest of a potential site supervisor.

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in Masters or PhD programme in a local university, or MD programme in a local medical school
  • Secured an academic supervisor from their institution
  • Above the age of 21 at point of enrolment

Psychology Undergraduate Internship

This programme provides valuable hands-on experience in psychology applied in clinical settings for students with an interest to pursue a career in psychology. Interns gain clinical exposure through department training sessions and clinical observation sessions, as well as learn research skills by assisting in the administration of research studies.

Eligibility:

  • Third year Psychology majors from a recognized university
  • Above the age of 21 at point of enrolment

Minimum Commitment:

  • Part-time: 2 days per week for 6 months.
  • Full-time: 5 days per week for 3 months.

Intakes:

  • February – July
  • August – January
