At IMH, education plays a pivotal role in advancing the high standards of clinical and patient care in the delivery of mental healthcare services. We recognise the importance of investing in education to train the future healthcare professionals to serve community’s mental healthcare needs across the lifespan. Thus, aligned with the vision of the National Healthcare Group and IMH, the Education Office seeks to foster an environment of continuous self-directed learning, commitment towards excellence in training (teaching and learning) of healthcare professionals and the community, in areas related to mental health and illness, as well as pursuit of relevant collaborative research in Health Professions Education amongst colleagues in the different medical, nursing, and allied health disciplines.

To strive towards this goal, there are three main foci related to the diverse learners, faculty as well as educational programmes. For the diverse learners, we encourage identify formation in the course of learning through learner supervision and support. For the faculty, we support the faculty as they help the learners in the integration of knowledge with practice. For the different training programmes, we seek to inculcate a spirit of continuous inquiry and innovation in order to constantly improve the learning environment and extant pedagogies. As the African saying goes, “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”, our diverse educators look forward to working with our partners, patients and their families in advancing care through continuous training and education.
