Application for the Feb'20-Jul’20 intake is now closed.

The Department of Developmental Psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is committed to the education and professional development of young clinician and allied health professionals. The internship programmes in child mental health adopt a clinician-scientist approach with positions offering clinical exposure and training opportunities in a clinical setting, with a strong focus on conducting research in mental health.

Clinical Research Internship

This programme is open to candidates who are interested to do their research with the department. Candidates should be enrolled in either (i) a Masters or PhD programme in a local university, or (ii) a MD programme in a local medical school at the time of application. Candidates should have secured an academic supervisor from their institution who is agreeable with the intern completing their research with IMH. Candidates with a research proposal submitted at the time of application will be considered favourably if the proposal topic aligns with the interest of a potential site supervisor. This position requires substantial commitment as it requires the intern to complete a research project independently upon completion of the internship. Applications are reviewed year-round.

Interns gain clinical exposure through department training sessions, clinical observation sessions and case discussion, as well as learn research skills by assisting in the administration of research studies. This opportunity will provide valuable hands-on experience in psychology applied in clinical settings for students with an interest to pursue a career in psychology.

Interns, on part-time basis, are required to commit at least 2 days a week for 6 months, extendable to 1 year based on performance. Interns, on full-time basis, are required to commit 5 days a week for at least 3 months.
