Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Continuing Medical Education (CME) events are organised throughout the year to inculcate a culture of continuous learning amongst all medical staff within IMH. CME talks are also sometimes organised for GPs and specialists from other institutions. Visiting and HMDP Experts have also been engaged to give CME talks at IMH on some occasions.

Topics for CME talks are carefully selected to ensure relevance to today’s mental health issues and developments, allowing our staff to keep abreast of recent developments in mental healthcare.

Depression or Dementia? A Frequent Dilemma in the Elderly

Our VASE (Video Assisted Self learning) approach to mental health crystallises important basic concepts for the busy primary care doctors. A typical doctor-patient consultation in our clinic is portrayed and analysed. This VASE sharing on Depression uses effective on-screen words to focus our attention on the diagnostic DSM-5 criteria, the finer points on differentiation from Dementia in the elderly and the principles of management. Resource materials & check-lists are provided for easy reference. After learning, please self-submit for 1 Core FM CME point under category 3A with the SMC ID no. SMC20200629-1B-0008.
