Creative activity is an activity which involves imagination and has a novel, worthwhile product’. The product may be concrete, such as a painting or a piece of writing, or it may be an original idea or train of thought. Such activities have been used as a treatment medium by occupational therapists since the inception of the profession.

Through the production of craft activities, patients are able to gain skills which are necessary to get a job, stimulate activity, earn money, being valued in society and increase socialization. It helps to give meaning to patients’ everyday lives, and to provide challenges in creating patterns for objects to be produced.
