Depression Study
To determine the prevalence of suicidal ideations and suicide intent amongst those patients with depressive symptoms

Drug Abuse/Dependency Study
Investigates the relationship between the severity of benzodiazepine use/dependency and patients' pattern of use, attitudes and perceptions

Early Psychosis Study

  1. Insight and Neurocognition: To study the insight and neurocognitive profile of first episode patients in an Asian context using neurocognitive tests of attention, verbal memory and executive functioning

  2. Weight Gain and First-episode psychosis: To investigate the incidence of weight gain, glucose and lipid abnormalities in first-episode psychosis patients with antipsychotic medications

Genetic Studies
Identifies genetic differences influencing tardive dyskinesia in cases and controls

Obessive Compulsive Disorder Study
Primary objective is to determine the prevalence of obsessive compulsive symptoms with specific atypical antipsychotic medication

Self-mutilation Study
Identify the factors that precipitate, contribute to and maintain self-mutilation through cross-cultural comparison

Schizophrenia Study

1. Brain Abnormalities: To determine the prevalence of psychotic prodromal symptoms, cognitive impairment and structural brain abnormalities in first-degree relatives of patients with schizophrenia as compared to normal controls

2. Memory and Thinking Process: To study how drugs can improve the memory and thinking processes in patients with schizophrenia

Mental Health of Children Study

1. Mental Health Problems: To develop and validate a screening protocol, use it to estimate the size and nature of children's mental health problems in primary school.

2. Disruptive Behaviour Disorders: Seeks to investigate the efficacy of the group social problem-solving skills treatment program for Singaporean children.

SARS Study
Investigates how allied health professionals, and their families cope with SARS and SARS related stress.
