COPES provides support to a range of cases with learning disabilities and comorbidities. These comorbidities include:
- Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
- Oppositional Deficient Disorder
- Asperger’s/Autistic Spectrum Disorder
- Emotional Disorder
- Abuse Cases.
- Assessments
A range of psychological and academic assessments are administered by the multi-disciplinary team. These may include intellectual, speech/language, motor and psycho-social assessment.
- Academic Programmes
COPES offers group and individual academic intervention programmes such as the Language, Reading, Reading Comprehension and Writing programmes. These intervention programmes focus on skills and processes essential for academic achievement.
- Skills-based Training
COPES also offers structured skills intervention programmes, such as the Classroom Behaviour Skills and Skills Streaming for Adolescents. These programmes help in the development of desirable work habits and social skills.
- School-based Transition and Education Programme
The School-based Transition and Education Programme engages with the schools to:
- Share assessment results & intervention suggestions with pupil’s teachers & other school personnel
- Support and/or lead ‘transition meetings’ for pupils with learning and social/emotional difficulties requiring transition support
- Support classroom teachers in improving their skills to accommodate pupils with learning and social/emotional difficulties through classroom visits, observations and joint planning
