Inpatient
Services
Inpatient OT services are catered to improve the functional level of children and adolescents with psychiatric, emotional and behaviour problems. Group activities are conducted to enhance interpersonal skills, facilitate expression of emotions and to equip children and adolescents with coping skills. Examples of activities include creative expressive groups, art and craft, cooking/self care groups, social skills groups as well as coping skills (stress management, depression management, etc) groups.

Individual intervention is carried out to enable children and adolescents to function adequately in the community. Intervention such as Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training and vocational exploration are conducted. Where necessary, home/school visits may also be conducted.

Outpatient Services
Occupational Therapy services are carried out both at IMH and Child Guidance Clinic. Interventions are geared towards maximizing children’s functional abilities in school. These include: social skills training, handwriting assessment and treatment, pre-writing skills training, sensory profiling, visual perceptual/fine motor assessments and treatment.

Occupational Therapists and nurses also co-run the Day Program at Sunrise Wing where outpatients who are not attending school or in the transitional period

before returning to school/work can attend the groups run daily to learn life skills.
