You feel that all doorknobs are dirty and refuse to touch them with your bare hands. After tossing in bed for two hours, you find yourself still wide-awake and even if you do sleep, it is not restful. Guilt or a poor self-image inhibits you from enjoying sexual intercourse. Doctors at our specialised clinics care for those with mood-related illnesses, sleep disorder and sexual dysfunction.

The Anxiety Mood Clinic treats:

  • Anxiety disorders
Symptoms like palpitations, breathlessness and tense feelings that are serious enough to disrupt your daily routine .

  • Depression
Indicated by anything from tiredness to feelings of guilt and even thoughts of suicide.

  • Other disorders
Such as extreme mood swings (bipolar disorder) to inflated self-esteem (mania) to an irrational fear of objects or gripping habits (obsessive compulsive disorder).

Anxiety and Mood Clinic
The Anxiety and Mood Clinic helps patients with a large variety of anxiety and mood-related illnesses. Common anxiety disorders include Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Mood disorders include major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, dysthymia, adjustment problems, bereavement and grief reactions.

Symptoms of depression may vary from individual to individual. Common symptoms include feelings of sadness, tiredness, loss of enjoyment, sleep and appetite disturbance. Other patients may experience feelings of guilt, worthlessness and even thoughts of suicide.

Bipolar disorder patients experience extreme mood swings. Mania, which is the opposite of depression, is characterised by feelings of elation, increased energy, decreased need for sleep, inflated self-esteem, grandiose ideation and excessive goal-oriented activities.

Dysthymia is a milder form of chronic depression. Patients may also suffer adjustment problems such as grief, bereavement, as well as stress or work-related difficulties.
