The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) presents EMDR Seminars 2012: Basic level workshops designed to prepare individuals with minimum knowledge about EMDR to become specialized in specific skill sets. This training is divided into two parts; Part I provides participants with the skills for client selection, case conceptualization and treatment planning in EMDR. Part II teaches skills in utilising EMDR in working with difficult or resistant clients, clients with complex trauma-related disorders, as well as highly emotional responses, dissociative symptoms and phobias. Part I certification is a prerequisite for attending Part II.


Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is a complex approach to psychotherapy that accelerates the treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self-esteem issues related to upsetting past traumatic events and present life conditions. This interactional, standardised approach has been empirically tested with patients evincing a considerable range of presenting complaints, including the loss of a loved one, rape, sexual molestation, Vietnam combat and natural disaster.
