1. Principal Therapists
The Challenges
Your responsibilities include providing expertise to develop, manage and run various counseling programs and services in the Addiction Medicine Department. These can include both inpatient and outpatient programs. You will also be the resource person for matters involving addiction patient care. This will include reviewing addiction counseling practices and setting the standards of high quality care provided by addiction counselors in regard to individual counseling and group therapy. You will be expected to drive and maintain high quality patient care through your supervision. Teaching and training on addiction topics for both internal and external professional staff will also be an important component of your work.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary setting, and will be required to communicate and consult with physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. The successful candidate is further required to deliver public information and education presentations as well as assist the department in evaluating and improving patient services .
The Requirements
- Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or Nursing with at least 10 years of experience in designing and implementing services and programs in addiction.
- A respected expert in the field of Addictions, especially gambling addiction, with widespread experience in training, supervision and consultation.

2. Physiotherapist
The Challenges
You will be responsible for providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to Psycho-geriatric patients. You are expected to prepare treatment schedules and document patients’ progress and reports.
You will also maintain statistical information for the department and give talks on physiotherapy.

As part of the Children’s One-Stop Psycho-Educational Services (COPES) team, you will:
- Collaboratively participate in the multi-disciplinary assessment process of children referred to COPES
- Administer psychological and academic assessments

The Challenges
You will provide speech, language and voice therapy to pediatric patients with language and developmental disorders in a multi-disciplinary environment. Your work scope includes development and implementation of intervention programmes for children of school going age. You will work closely with psychologists and psychiatrists.

- Degree in Speech Language Therapy and membership to a relevant professional organization

7. Senior / Psychologist
The Challenges
You will provide clinical psychological services for both inpatients and outpatients within the psychiatric services as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The services would include psychometric assessment, as well as individual and group therapy. You will also contribute to mental health promotion programmes and psychological duties within the institute’s framework. You will also have the opportunity to participate in or conduct research.
As a psychologist in the Aged Psychiatry Community Assessment & Treatment Service (APCATS), you will also be expected to:
- conduct home visits
- establish rapport and build therapeutic alliance with client and family
- conduct assessment of clients for medical, psychological, social, environmental and financial needs, including monitoring of mental state examination as well as monitoring signs of relapse and caregiver stress
- provide psychoeducation to client and family in response to needs assessment
- identify client’s/family’s needs and formulate and develop appropriate individualised service plan in collaboration with other team members
- establish linkages with community social agencies and train the staff to better understand the various psychogeriatric issues and disorders
- assist in training the staff of partnering social agencies or volunteers to screen for various psychogeriatric disorders such as depression and dementia
- perform further assessment of elderly who were screened positive during initial screening
- channel the elderly who are assessed to have a psychogeriatric disorder for appropriate management such as social agencies, primary health medical practitioner clinic or APCATS clinical service
- assist the Programme Director to provide liaison and training for partnering primary health medical practitioners
As a psychologist in the Community Mental Health Team, you will be expected to:
provide case management, especially of those patients requiring more psychological input
- be involved in the Multidisciplinary team round and conduct homevisits where necessary
- liaise and provide training to community organizations that provide step-down care
As a psychologist in the Child & Adolescent Mobile Team, you will be expected to:
- be part of the mobile team in crisis intervention for school children and adolescents
- provide consultancy to teachers in the management of behavioural problems
As a psychologist in the Forensic Team, you will be expected to:
- conduct psychometric assessment & therapy for offenders with mental illnesses
As a psychologist in the Community Addictions Management Programme (CAMP), you will also be expected to:
- provide psychological assessment and input for more effective treatment planning and case management by the counselors
- provide specialised, individual and group therapy services for addiction patients (both inpatients and outpatients), especially for those with co-morbid conditions
- establish and supervise the use of cognitive behavioural therapy in our services, especially for our problem/pathological gamblers
- provide training and talks in mental health and psychology topics
For the position of Senior Psychologist, you will provide leadership to subordinate levels of staff and participate in the duties of subordinate levels of staff as and when necessary.
The Requirements
- Master of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology or Forensic Psychology. Those with good Honours will be considered on a case by case basis.
- Preferably with 2 to 3 years of relevant working experience. Those trained in psychometric assessments would be preferred.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team.
- It will be an advantage if you are holding or are eligible for a valid registration, license or practising certificate with an established or recognised psychological professional body such as APA, APS or BPS.
- For those who are applying for the position of Senior Psychologist, you should have at least 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience.

11. Biostatistician / Epidemiologist
The Challenges
We are seeking to hire a biostatistician / epidemiologist who will provide expertise for the design, conduct and analysis of clinical trials and other clinical research projects. You will join a team of multidisciplinary clinicians and researchers. The job will involve interacting with clinical personnel, study coordinators and other biostatisticians. Your duties will include conducting statistical consultations, reviewing research proposals, training, performing statistical analysis and data management, amongst other duties.
The Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:
Either
- Basic degree in Statistics or Mathematics with Master’s or higher degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or Biomedical Science
or
- Basic degree in Clinical or Biological Science with Master’s or higher degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or Quantitative Methods
- He/She should also be proficient in the use of a major statistical analysis package, preferably SAS/SPSS and should have expertise in more than one of the following areas:
- Design and analysis of group/cluster/nested randomized trials data
- Analysis of longitudinal data
- Psychometrics (item response theory, scale development, data reduction, factor analysis)
- Cluster analysis and other multivariate methods
- Linear and logistic regression

12. Case Management Officer (Forensic)
The Challenges
To work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of holistic patient care, by assessing and evaluating needs of the patient, and planning, coordinating, implementing and monitoring the solutions to address those needs and to participate in other clinical care activities.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Provide and coordinate continuity of inpatient and outpatient care from initial consultation through to recovery
- Act as pivotal team member for patient care by informing the multidisciplinary care management team of patient updates and initiate case review and discussion
- Initiate appropriate referral and liaison with other professional staff, step down facilities and relevant agencies. Clarify with patients their follow-up plans after discharge from Hospital
Court Proceedings
- Fulfilling court rulings
- Track all Court outcomes for patients after their remand period
- Liaise with Prisons Department, Subordinate Courts, Ministry of Community Youth and Sports and family members on all matters pertinent to patient care
- Monitor patients’ well-being through telephone or direct home visits until transfer is made to General Psychiatric services
- Perform case management for patients placed on compulsory outpatient care
- Provide case management input at monthly Visitor’s Board Meetings
- Establish rapport and build therapeutic alliance with patient and family
- Provide counseling and supportive therapy for patient and family in response to their needs

- Provide inpatient supportive group therapy
- Take on additional duties as instructed by Chief and/or Psychiatrists in the forensic team

The Challenges
As a Counsellor/Case Manager in our Community Addiction Management Program (CAMP), you will review all clinical, medical, psychosocial and other relevant data as part of assessment of clients. You will be required to formulate a provisional diagnosis using the DSM4, and enlist your patient’s cooperation in developing a treatment plan. You will also mobilize the relevant resources and services your patients require.
You will work within a multi-disciplinary setting and will be required to communicate and consult with physicians, nurses and other allied health professionals. You may be responsible for both inpatient and outpatient services . You may also be required to conduct individual and group therapy programs and work with families. The candidate is further required to provide training on addiction, deliver public information/education presentations and assist the department in evaluating and improving patient services.
The Requirements
- Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Nursing or related discipline with relevant work experience. Honours degree is preferred
- Basic knowledge of PC applications (Microsoft Word & Excel)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in case management or counseling. Experience in working with gambling addiction and/or telephone counselling will be advantageous
